Penguins' Pascal Dupuis taken to hospital; tests negative for blood clot

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis received good news after he was sent to the hospital for experiencing "symptoms that may or may not be related to his blood clot history." Coach Mike Johnston told reporters after the the team's 2-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers that tests came back negative.

Dupuis, 36, played in just 16 games last season after being diagnosed with a blood clot, which traveled from his leg to his lung, Nov. 19, 2014.

After missing Friday night's game, the team will hold him out of Saturday's game against the Calgary Flames as well. Dupuis will be checked again in Pittsburgh early in the week.

“We’ve said all along that Pascal’s health is the highest priority,” general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement Friday night. “We will take every precaution necessary to ensure he is in good health.”

Dupuis has one goal in six games.
