Stars sign Jiri Hudler to one-year deal
The Dallas Stars scooped up one of the NHL's top remaining free agents Wednesday.
Stars GM Jim Nill announced that the team agreed to terms with Jiri Hudler on a one-year, $2 million deal. Nill added that he envisions the forward grabbing top-six minutes and also contributing on the power play.
Hudler, a former Lady Byng award winner, has topped the 20-goal mark three times and potted 31 during a career year with the Calgary Flames in 2014-15. He finished with 76 points that season and was a big contributor during a short playoff stint.
Last season, he was dealt at the deadline to the Florida Panthers, finishing with 16 goals and 30 assists.
The 32-year-old Czech will join a potent attack that features elite forwards Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin along with centers Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp.
