The Anaheim Ducks traded defenseman Sami Vatanen and a conditional draft pick to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for centers Adam Henrique and Joseph Blandisi, as well as a 2018 third-round draft pick, both teams announced Thursday morning.

The cross-conference trade allows both teams to shake up their rosters. The acquisition of Vatanen immediately bolsters the Devils' defense, while Henrique gives the Ducks a center who has posted four goals and 10 assists through 24 games this season with New Jersey.

"In acquiring Sami, we bring on a right shot, top-four defenseman who can play in all situations," Devils vice president Ray Shero said in a statement. "This move also gives us contract certainty on the back end for the next two-plus years."
