Montreal Canadiens' Shea Weber has season-ending foot surgery

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber's season officially came to an end when he had foot surgery that will keep him out for six months.

He hasn't played since Dec. 16 and the team announced last month that he would need season-ending surgery.

He had tendons in his left foot repaired Tuesday's surgery.

Weber has been limited by injury to 26 games this season, but his 16 points rank second among team defensemen.

His heavily front-loaded contract, originally an offer sheet that he signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and was matched by the Nashville Predators, runs through 2025-26.
