NHL draft 2018: How to watch, TV schedule, first-round order
The NHL draft will be held Friday and Saturday at American Airlines Arena in Dallas.
Here's what to know about this year's draft:
FIRST ROUND
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET Friday
TV: NBC Sports Network
ROUNDS 2-7
Time: 11 a.m. Saturday
TV: NHL Network
Who picks first: Buffalo Sabres. They finished last in the league for the third time in five years but won the draft lottery this time to hold on to the top pick.
Who are they expected to take? The consensus No. 1 pick is Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin, who had seven goals and 13 assists in 41 games last season with Frolunda. If the Sabres take him, he'd be the second European in a row to go that high (Switzerland's Nico Hischier was the New Jersey Devils' top pick last year) and the first defenseman since the Florida Panthers' Aaron Ekblad in 2014.
Which Americans could go first? University of Michigan defenseman Quinn Hughes and Boston University winger Brady Tkachuk, the son of Keith Tkachuk, are projected top 10 picks.
Which team has the most first-round picks? The New York Rangers have three. They pick ninth because of their regular-season finish, and they acquired first-rounders in the trades of Rick Nash (26th) and Ryan McDonough (28th).
Which team must wait the longest? The Calgary Flames have traded their top three selections and don't pick until 105th overall.
