The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers have series leads against teams that beat them two years ago in the second round.

The Maple Leafs lead the defending champion Florida Panthers 2-1, and the Oilers hold a 2-1 lead on the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Carolina Hurricanes have taken a 2-1 lead on the Washington Capitals, and the Winnipeg Jets-Dallas Stars series is tied 1-1.

The Florida-Toronto and Edmonton-Vegas series are repeats of 2023 matchups won by the Panthers and Golden Knights before they eventually met in the Stanley Cup Final. The Hurricanes ousted the Capitals in 2019, and the Jets and Stars are meeting for the first time in the playoffs.
