Report: Avalanche's Matt Duchene could be out one week
The suddenly slumping Colorado Avalanche will have to find their way without their leading scorer.
The Denver Post reported that center Matt Duchene will miss a week with an oblique injury. He was injured on Saturday.
"We will hope it's not more than that, but (Duchene) said he would need about a week," coach Patrick Roy told the newspaper.
Duchene leads the Avalanche with 12 goals and 20 points. Several of his goals have been highlight-reel.
His 12 goals are tied for second among Canadian forwards, leading to speculation that he could land a spot in Sochi, particularly with Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos out long-term with a broken leg.
The Avalanche have lost three games in a row.
