Jaden Schwartz gets extension with St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues finished getting their house in order before the season by convincing Jaden Schwartz to agree to a two-year contract extension worth an average of $2.35 million.

According to capgeek.com, the Blues now have roughly $1 million left under this season's salary cap.

Schwartz, 22, will rejoin the team Monday, after missing the first 10 days of training camp and exhibition games.

With 25 goals and 56 points, Schwartz ranked fourth on the Blues last season in point production.

"We are excited to have Jaden in the fold for the next two seasons," said Blues general manager Doug Armstrong. "He is an exciting young talent who will play a key role in the success of our club."

Schwartz will still be a restricted free agent when this extension expires.
