Flyers don't expect Steve Mason update until Tuesday

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason is back on the sidelines after limping off the ice Sunday afternoon.

The team said Monday that more information on his status wasn't expected to be available until Tuesday.

.It wasn't clear exactly how he was hurt, but he left during a break in play against the Washington Capitals. He seemed fine at the bench then skated away from a member of the shovel crew and had trouble putting weight on his right leg as he left the ice.

Mason returned to Philadelphia for testing on the lower-body injury while the team flew to Montreal.

Mason had already missed 10 games this season - four in December with an apparent back injury suffered in practice and six games with a lower-body injury last month.

Since returning, he had gone 3-0-1 with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .959 save percentage.

Ray Emery came into Sunday's game and gave up a power play goal, which tied the game. But he finished with five saves and the win as the Flyers prevailed 3-1.

Rob Zepp, who was called up during Mason's previous injuries, is hurt, so the Flyers recalled Anthony Stolarz on Monday.
