Senators forward Clarke MacArthur won't return this season
Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur won’t return this season as he continues to suffer symptoms from a concussion sustained in training camp, Sens general manager Pierre Doiron announced on Friday.
“Clarke was devastated by this news,” Doiron told reporters. “He felt like he didn’t have any symptoms, but we always said the doctors would decide when Clarke was going to play. After consulting with doctors, including independent doctors, they all feel that Clarke should not play this year.”
MacArthur, 31, suffered his fourth concussion over an 18-month span in training camp. He hasn’t participated in an NHL game since November 2015.
“We are losing a huge presence,” Doiron said. “In my conversations with Clarke over the last few days, I told him that his presence in the dressing room would be dearly missed. He’s going to keep working out because Clarke’s goal, ultimately is to come back.”
