Red Wings' Kyle Quincey has fractured cheekbone
VANCOUVER - Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured cheekbone that might require surgery.
Quincey was hit by a puck that ramped up his stick and hit him in the face during the third period of Friday's 3-2 overtime victory against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.
General manager Ken Holland said Saturday morning that Quincey is flying back to Detroit from Edmonton. Quincey is scheduled to see a doctor Monday to determine how extensive the damage is,
Defenseman Ian White will return to the lineup Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks after being a healthy scratch.
Quincey had a goal, an assist and a plus 8 rating in 26 games. He missed two games with a rolled ankle.
