Shaun White finishes fourth at Winter X Ganes
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Shaun White skittered to a fourth-place finish at the Winter X Games on Thursday night, opening the door for Danny Davis to win his second straight title on the halfpipe in Aspen.
Taku Hiraoka of Japan added a second-place finish to go with his Olympic bronze. The Olympic champion, Iouri Podladtchikov, finished third.
White was competing for the first time since his disappointing fourth-place showing at the Olympics last year. None of his three runs through the finals were unblemished, though, and his score of 82 wasn't good enough for a medal.
Davis was in fourth going into his final run, but his typically high-flying stylish trip down the halfpipe — lots of fancy grabs and great twisting and bending of his legs — scored a 93.66, knocking White off the podium.
