Twin brothers killed in accident on Calgary bobsled track
Twin teenage brothers were killed when trying to slide down an Olympic bobsled track in Calgary using their own toboggan, according to news reports.
CBC News reported the 17-year-old boys were killed early Saturday when using the track after hours. Six other teens, all male, were treated at local hospitals.
Police said the boys hit a large gate used to separate the bobsled and luge tracks, according to the CBC report.
The brothers were identified as Jordan and Evan Caldwell. Their family released a statement late Saturday night.
“We were reminded today that life is but a vapor. Life is precious, life is fragile, and we must redeem the time we’re given.
"Our boys Jordan and Evan were bright lights to all who knew them. We are grieving their loss but confident in their new home of heaven. Our brief 17 years with them were a gift: filled with much love, laughter, and fond memories. They leave a huge void and will be sorely missed.”
The track hosted the Olympic competitions at the 1988 Calgary Winter Games.
