KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Simone Biles made history on her first night of the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships by debuting two skills no woman has ever done in competition.

But the reigning champ wasn't satisfied with her performance and hopes to have a better showing in the final day here. Though she doesn't plan to redo her new balance beam dismount, a double back tuck with two twists, she said Friday night that she would retry the upgraded tumbling pass that gave her trouble on floor exercise.

Despite her mistakes, Biles still leads the field by over a point in the all around and has the top spots on vault, floor and beam. The 2017 world all-around champion, Morgan Hurd, looked solid until her final event, where two errors during her floor routine caused her to drop from second in the all around to eighth. She's also looking to come back stronger Sunday.
