Chasing Gold 🥇: Americans try to get back on the Winter Olympics podium

After Americans failed to win a medal Friday at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Team USA will be looking to get back onto the podium Saturday.

Jessie Diggins will compete in the women’s 4x5km relay in Cross-country skiing, while Jordan Stolz will be featured in the men’s 500m speedskating.

Women’s skeleton will have 37-year-old Katie Uhlaender in her fifth Olympic Games and monobob makes its Olympic debut with Elana Meyers Taylor and Kaillie Humphries hoping to secure medals for Team USA.

Late Friday, the U.S. men's hockey team will take on the Canadiens, after the Americans scored an impressive 8-0 drubbing of the host country in their opening game.

HEARTBREAKING CRASH: US speedskater Kristen Santos was less than two laps away from earning an Olympic medal. She instead crashed into Italy's Arianna Fontana during Fontana's attempted pass in the 1000-meter final, sending them both into the boards. Santos finished in fourth place.

"Of course the situation – for lack of a better word, it sucks," Santos said. "But like I said, it's part of the sport. It sucks. But I'm not mad at anyone. Just sad."

FIGURE SKATING CONTROVERSY: Adam Rippon says adults put Russian Olympic skater Kamila Valieva 'in this awful situation' after she testedpositive for a banned substance. The International Olympic Committee wants the 15-year-old Valieva suspended, which would hand the United States with the gold medal in the team skating competition

COACH ACCUSED: U.S. Ski & Snowboard has opened an investigation into allegations of past inappropriate behavior on snowboardcross team.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard says they are investigating allegations of inappropriate behavior within the U.S. snowboardcross team, including some that have been levied against its current head coach, Peter Foley.

Callan Chythlook-Sifsof, a member of the 2010 Olympic team, said Foley took "naked photos of female athletes for over a decade" and made an explicit comment to her about another woman's appearance in 2014
