Venus Williams gets another shot at Olympic medal
RIO DE JANEIRO — Venus Williams' Olympic career will continue.
And the four-time gold medalist will get a crack at another medal.
Williams, 36, a seven-time major champion, will play mixed doubles with Rajeev Ram.
When Williams lost in the first round of singles, and she and sister Serena lost in doubles — for the first time in Olympics competition — it looked as if her long and decorated Olympic career could be over. After all, 2020 is a long time away.
Williams won singles gold in Sydney in 2000, and she has teamed with Serena to win three doubles gold medals.
Another American duo also will be in the field: Jack Sock and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
