Rio 2016: Five things to watch on Sunday at the Olympics

Women’s gymnastics

Simone Biles can add to her medal haul when the event finals begin. After winning gold in the all-around and team competition, Biles is favored in the vault final. Fellow Final Fivers Madison Kocian and Gabby Douglas compete on uneven bars while Jake Dalton and Sam Mikulak are in the floor exercise final and Alex Naddour goes on pommel horse.

Women’s marathon

Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia is one of the favorites after winning the gold at last year’s world championships in Beijing. Amy Cragg, Shalane Flanagan and Desi Linden will represent the United  States. And if you think your eyes are deceiving you, there are triplets in the race.

Leila, Lily and Liina Luik make up the women’s marathon team from Estonia.

Track and field

Usain Bolt takes aim at his third consecutive gold in the 100 meters on Sunday, semifinals and then final. Chasing him will be teammate Yohan Blake and Americans Justin Gatlin and Trayvon Bromell. Allyson Felix runs in the semifinals of the 400, and a trio of Americans – Jenny Simpson, Shannon Rowbury and Brenda Martinez – will look for a spot in the 1,500 final. LaShawn Merritt will attempt to win his second gold in the 400, eight years after he won his first. He first must qualify through Sunday's semifinals.

Tennis

Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro will play for the gold medal in men’s singles. Other stars in action include Rafael Nadal, who is into the bronze medal match for singles, and Venus Williams, who teamed up with Rajeev Ram, and will play for the gold in mixed doubles.

Men’s basketball

The U.S. team takes on France in group play. The Americans survived a scare against Serbia, winning 94-91 for their 21st consecutive Olympic victory. The U.S. women take on China, hoping to extend their 45-game winning streak in Olympic play.
