Women’s gymnastics
Simone Biles goes for a gold medal in her final event in Rio, the floor exercise. She has won three world championships in the event and will be a favorite to win her fourth gold here in Rio.

Women’s basketball
The U.S. takes on Japan in the quarterfinals after dominating China on Sunday. The Americans shot 62% from the field in that game and posted a 4-0 record to finish atop their group.
Track and field
World indoor champion Matthew Centrowitz begins his preliminary heats in Rio in the men’s 1,500. Usain Bolt returns to the track for the preliminary heats of the men’s 200. In the evening, we’ll have finals in the women’s 1,500, men’s 110 hurdles and men’s high jump.
Women’s soccer
Brazil and Sweden meet at the Maracana in a women’s semifinal. Sweden, of course, pulled off an upset of the U.S. women on penalty kicks in the quarterfinals. Brazil won silver medals, behind the U.S., in 2008 and 2004. Both teams are eyeing their first gold in the Olympic tournament.
Beach volleyball
April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings will face No. 2 Agatha Bednarczuk/Barbara Seixas of Brazil in the semifinals. Walsh Jennings has won three consecutive gold medals and is looking for her first with Ross.
