Women’s basketball
The American women are heavily favored to win their sixth consecutive gold medal when they play Spain. The U.S. has a 48-game winning streak and dominated France in the semifinals. In group play earlier in the competition, the U.S. beat Spain 103-63.
Diving
Americans David Boudia and Steele Johnson have qualified for the men’s 10-meter semifinals. The two won silver in the synchronized 10-meter event last week. Boudia was fourth in the preliminaries of the individual event.

Women’s triathlon
Gwen Jorgensen has been the dominant female triathlete in the world the last few years. After a disappointing finish at the London Games in 2012, she moved overseas to train with an eye toward winning gold in Rio. She set a record with 13 consecutive victories in the ITU’s World Triathlon Series and also won the Olympic test event in Rio last summer.
Track and field
Matthew Centrowitz is among the favorites in the men’s 1,500 final. His teammates, Ben Blankenship and Robby Andrews, also made the final. In relay action, the Americans will be looking for more medals in the men and women’s 4x400. Allyson Felix can add to her gold and silver won in Rio.

Boxing
Shakur Stevenson will fight for gold against Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana from Cuba. Stevenson advanced with a walkover win against a Russian fighter who withdrew. The 19-year-old from Newark would be a big story for USA Boxing if he comes away with a gold. It would be the first gold for a male U.S. boxer since 2004.
BONUS: Men's soccer
Two years after a humiliating 7-1 loss on home soil in the World Cup semifinals against Germany, Brazil has a chance at some redemption in the men’s soccer gold medal match (4:30 p.m. ET). Brazil has never won gold in men’s soccer, but can end that drought with a win today at the Maracana Stadium.
