Cleveland Browns pick QB Dillon Gabriel in Round 3 of NFL draft: Fit, scouting report

BEREA — The Cleveland Browns drafted Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel with the No. 94 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Gabriel was the fifth quarterback taken in the draft. Here's what Browns fans need to know about Gabriel in our instant analysis of the pick.

Dillon Gabriel scouting report

Gabriel has played a lot of football over his career. He originally enrolled in 2019 at UCF, where he played three seasons, the last of which was cut short three games in by a broken clavicle. Gabriel went to Oklahoma in 2022, playing two seasons there before jumping to Oregon for his final season. The left-handed quarterback doesn't have a huge arm, but can put it on the money in the intermediate areas. Gabriel is also reasonably careful with the football, with only 32 career interceptions over 2,111 pass attempts.

How Dillon Gabriel fits with Browns

The Browns needed a quarterback in this draft, and Gabriel is a quarterback. However, he wasn't one of the quarterbacks everyone assumed they might target. Still, Gabriel joins a quarterback room with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and an injured Deshaun Watson. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski has indicated all of the quarterbacks would compete for the starting job, so Gabriel will at least get a chance.

Dillon Gabriel stats

Gabriel, 24, measured 5-foot-11, 205 pounds at the NFL scouting combine. He's started 63 of the 64 career games, completing 1,376 of 2,111 passes (65.2%) for 18,722 yards with 155 touchdowns and 32 interceptions. Gabriel was a first-team All-American and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in his final season at Oregon, which finished undefeated before losing to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal. He completed 326 of 447 passes (72.9%) for 3,857 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions.
