Wanderers to play ACL home leg at Parramatta
SYDNEY (AP) — The Asian Football Confederation has given Western Sydney Wanderers permission to play the home leg of their Asian Championships League finals series against Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal at their home ground, Parrammatta Stadium.
Australia's Wanderers needed to convince the AFC that the 32,000-seat stadium is of sufficient quality and has the facilities to host the Oct. 25 match. The AFC accepted their case and Wanderers chairman John Tsatsimas predicts a sell-out crowd.
Tsatsimas said Tuesday "while a bigger venue may have given us the ability to pack in a larger audience, the opportunity we have before us to win the ACL on our maiden attempt is one we will need every possible advantage in achieving."
The return leg of the finals will be played in Riyadh on Nov. 1.
