Galaxy tie Central FC 1-1, advance in CONCACAF Champions League
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) — Alan Gordon scored in the 82nd minute and the Los Angeles Galaxy tied Central FC 1-1 on Wednesday night to wrap a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.
Los Angeles improved to 2-0-1 with one Group E game left Oct. 21 at Comunicaciones of Guatemala. The Galaxy routed Central 5-1 on Aug. 6 in California.
Gordon ended Los Angeles' goal drought across all competitions at 361 minutes.
Willis Plaza scored for Central (1-2-1) in the second minute.
The Galaxy left their entire regular starting lineup home. They started only three players — Baggio Husidic, Mika Vayrynen and Dan Gargan — with 10 or more MLS starts this season.
