Roma pays 13 million euros for El Shaarawy's full rights

ROME (AP) — Italy forward Stephan El Shaarawy has made a permanent move to Roma after playing for the club on loan from AC Milan last season.

Roma announced Tuesday that it paid Milan 13 million euros ($15 million) for El Shaarawy.

The 23-year-old El Shaarawy signed a four-year contract with Roma that expires in 2020.

He says, "Today is a very special day for me because I am now a Roma player in every way."

El Shaarawy joined Roma in January and scored eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances. He spent the first half of last season on loan at French side Monaco, having previously played for Genoa, Padova and Milan.

El Shaarawy is currently in Italy's squad at the European Championship.
