In one of the more highly-anticipated matches of the World Cup's group stage, Mexico went ahead in the 35th minute against defending champion Germany on a goal from Hirving Lozano.
The Mexicans were on the front foot for most of the first half and were consistently threatening on the counter-attack.
Javier Hernandez found himself up against Germany defender Jerome Boateng, and had Lozano open on his left. Hernandez threaded the ball through and all it took was one cutback on Mesut Ozil in the penalty area for Lozano to get some space and tuck one away on the near post, beating Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
