Club America rallied to win a thrilling Round of 16 game against St. Louis City SC to reach the Leagues Cup quarterfinals, where a surprise contestant stands in the way: the Colorado Rapids.
While on paper Club America's matchup against the Rapids figures to favor the iconic Liga MX club, the Rapids are coming off three straight wins over Liga MX teams. After beating 2023 Concacaf Champions League winner Club León in the final group stage game in a penalty shootout, the Rapids defeated Juárez and Toluca in the knockout rounds to reach the quarterfinals.
The winner of the Club America-Colorado Rapids quarterfinal faces the winner of the Seattle Sounders-Los Angeles FC game in the semifinals.
