2019 UEFA Champions League: Liverpool-Tottenham final time, TV guide

The 2019 UEFA Champions League final will be played between Liverpool F.C. and Tottenham Hotspur F.C. (both clubs from England) on Saturday, June 1.

Colorful Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has his squad back in the Champions League final after being defeated by Real Madrid in last year's final. Liverpool will be playing for its first Champions League crown in 14 years. By contrast, Tottenham — managed by Mauricio Pochettino — has never advanced this far in Champions League play.

Liverpool possesses a talented goal-scoring duo in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, who each scored 26 goals in all competitions during the 2018-19 season for the Reds. Tottenham also has a potent goal-scoring duo. Harry Kane scored 24 goals in all competitions this season, while Son Heung-min has 20 goals.

Here's everything else you need to know for the matchup:

WHAT TO WATCH

Premier League strength

Both finals for Europe's top club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, were all-English affairs. On Wednesday, Chelsea defeated Arsenal, 4-1, in the Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan. On Saturday in the Wanda Metropolitano (home of Atletico Madrid) in Madrid, Spain, Liverpool plays Tottenham to decide which club will be the Premier League's first Champions League winner since Chelsea in 2012. Liverpool is back in the final after losing last year's title game to Real Madrid.

Tottenham, meanwhile, is playing in the final for the first time ever. This event caps an amazing season for the Premier League, whose champion — Manchester City — was bounced in the Champions League quarterfinals by Tottenham.

Amazing paths to final

Both Liverpool and Tottenham reached the Champions League final with epic comebacks in the semifinals. Liverpool faced a 3-0 aggregate deficit against FC Barcelona, only to win 4-0 in the second leg at its home stadium at Anfield. The next day, Tottenham faced a three-goal deficit on the road at Ajax in Amsterdam, only to rally and prevail via the away-goal tiebreaker and reach its first-ever Champions League final. So, with each teams having a knack for the dramatic, no lead is safe.
