Raja Casablanca stuns Atletico Mineiro in Club World Cup
MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) — Raja Casablanca upset Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro 3-1 on Wednesday night and will play Bayern Munich in this weekend's final of the Club World Cup.
Mohsine Moutaouali converted a tiebreaking penalty kick in the 84th after Mouhssine Iajour was tripped by defender Rver, and Vivien Mabide added a goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
"Who would have believed we would come to this," Raja coach Faouzi Benzarti said through a translator.
Iajour had put the local favorite ahead in the 51st minute, and Ronaldinho tied the score for the South American champion with a free kick in the 63rd.
"They were quick and speedy off the counter, and we were not up to the challenge," Atletico coach Cuca said through a translator. "I'd like to apologize to all the fans that made the trip here from Brazil."
The final of the tournament is Saturday.
Monterrey beat Egypt's Al-Ahly 5-1 in the fifth-place game on two goals by Cesar Delgado and one each by Neri Cardozo, Leobardo Lopez and Humberto Suarez.
Emad Meteab tied the score for Al-Ahly.
