Betting Business: PointsBet partners with Iowa casino

Despite the fact that Iowa state is still finalizing their plans to legalize sports betting within the state, that's not stopping sportsbooks from starting to set up to serve the state's residents in the future.

According to IGamingBusiness.com, PointsBet, an Australian sports betting operator, and Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington, Iowa, have agreed to a deal where PointsBet will provide sportsbook services to the casino once the state has finalized the legalization of sports betting.

Provided both PointsBet and Catfish Bend Casino securing the necessary licenses in Iowa, the partnership between the companies will include sports betting in both retail and mobile sportsbook operations. The retail service is expected to operate through a sports bar at Catfish Bend Casino.

PointsBet has already been active within the United States, having a partnership with Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey, who regulated legalized sports betting in the summer of 2018.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds currently has a bill to sign that would bring legal sports betting to Iowa.
