The Chicago Cubs (31-24) and St. Louis Cardinals (28-28) play Game 2 of a three-game set at Busch Stadium Saturday at 7:15 p.m. ET.

Friday: The Cards needed 10 innings to claim the opener, winning on Matt Carpenter's walk-off, bases-loaded single. This is the second season series between the two - the Cubs swept three at home in early May.

LHP Jose Quintana vs. RHP Jack Flaherty

Quintana is 4-4 with a 3.73 ERA and a 56/19 K-BB ratio in 11 appearances (10 starts). He had one of his worst outings of the year in his last start, yielding six runs (five earned) on a season-high 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings of a 10-2 loss vs. the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field Sunday. After winning four in a row, he's lost three in a row. His last win came against the Cardinals behind a two-run outing in which he scattered eight hits and two walks in six innings of a 13-5 victory May 5 at home. The lefty is 5-3 with a 3.75 ERA in nine career starts vs. the Cardinals, but was 1-3 vs. them in 2018.

Flaherty is 4-3 with a 3.77 ERA and a 65/20 K-BB ratio in 11 starts. He's was involved in back-to-back no-decisions his last two starts, but pitched well enough to win, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with 12 K's in 12 innings. The right-hander lost to the Cubs May 3, yielding three runs on four hits and four walks with nine K's in 5 2/3 innings of a 4-0 defeat at Wrigley. He's 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA in five career appearances (four starts) vs. the Cubs.
