The St. Louis Cardinals (33-33) and New York Mets (33-34) kick off a four-game set at Citi Field on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. Eastern in a battle of teams who have been a bit of a disappointment in 2019.

St. Louis Cardinals at New York Mets: Projected Starting Pitchers

RHP Jack Flaherty vs. RHP Jacob deGrom

Flaherty checks in with a 4-3 record, 4.08 ERA and .296 opponent on-base percentage across 68 1/3 innings this season with 73 strikeouts and a 1.20 WHIP over 13 starts. Flaherty has rather stark splits; however, so be careful. He has a 5.22 ERA in 39 2/3 innings at night, while going 1-2 with a 6.67 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 28 1/3 innings on the road.

DeGrom enters play with a dismal 3-6 record across his 75 2/3 innings over 13 starts this season, but he also has a respectable 3.45 ERA with 94 strikeouts and just 20 walks while posting a 1.15 WHIP overall. He is actually just 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 34 innings at home. The Mets are just 2-9 across the ace's past 11 starts, and they're 0-6 in his past six assignments in Game 1 of a new series.

  • St. Louis enters the game with just five wins over the past 19 road games, and they're 2-8 in Flaherty's past 10 road outings. They're 1-5 in his past six outings against NL East foes.
  • The Mets have won five of the past seven games overall, and they're an impressive 13-3 over their past 16 home outings. In addition, the Mets are 11-1 in the past 12 home games against a right-handed starting pitcher.

  • The under has cashed in 12 of the past 17 overall for the Cardinals and is a perfect 5-0 in the past five starts by Flaherty against a losing team. The under is also 10-3 in their last 13 vs. RHP.
