The Cleveland Indians (59-42) head to Kauffman Stadium to kick off a four-game set. They're looking to take advantage of the lowly Kansas City Royals (39-64) as they try and reel in the first-place Minnesota Twins.

These teams just met at Progressive Field last week, with the Indians taking two of three, outscoring the Royals 16-10. And in their last visit to K.C. from July 2-4, Cleveland posted a three-game sweep, including a pair of shutouts.

RHP Adam Plutko vs. LHP Mike Montgomery

Plutko has posted a 3-2 record with a 4.81 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 48 2/3 innings over eight starts and a relief appearance. He was the hard-luck loser on Saturday against the Royals at Progressive Field, falling in a 1-0 game despite the fact he allowed just one earned run, two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in a 103-pitch quality start.

Montgomery made his debut with the Royals on Friday in Cleveland after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs. It was a forgettable debut, as he coughed up five earned runs, six hits and no walks while making it through just two innings in a 45-pitch egg-laying. Overall he has managed a 6.83 ERA through 29 innings this season between his time with the Cubs and Royals.
