The New York Yankees (74-39) and Baltimore Orioles (38-75) play the finale of a three-game set at Oriole Park at Camden Yards Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Eastern.

The Yankees won the first two of the series against their AL East rivals. New York is 36 games up on last-place Baltimore in the division.

LHP James Paxton vs. LHP John Means

Only seven pitchers with 90-plus innings pitched are striking out more hitters per nine than Paxton's 11.57. The Canadian has the second-highest walk rate of all those peers and his 1.69 home runs per nine is the highest rate of his counterparts. He has been unlucky with opponents hitting .354 on balls in play and 17.5 percent of fly balls leaving the park. Last outing: Paxton turned in a quality start against the Boston Red Sox, allowing just two hits, three walks and two runs over a six-inning win with six K's.

Means missed two rotation turns while on the injured list due to a biceps issue. The 26-year-old enters Wednesday with a 3.12 ERA but a poor 5.42 xFIP. He's striking out less than three times as many batters as he walks, but he has managed to strand better than 80 percent of base runners. He has a 2.56 ERA through 56 1/3 innings at home. Last outing: Means allowed three earned runs over just 3 1/3 innings in a loss against the Arizona Diamondbacks July 24.
