RHP Adam Plutko vs. RHP Chad Green

Plutko is coming off a loss in Minnesota last time out on Aug. 10, as he ran out of steam at Target Field in a 4-1 loss. He allowed four earned runs, nine hits and a walk with two homers over six innings, but he had pitched well for a good chunk of the outing. He has not fared as well on the road as he has at home, going 1-1 with a 5.47 ERA over 26 1/3 innings away from Progressive Field in Cleveland, and he is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with three homers allowed across his past three outings.

Green will serve as the opener, a role he has filled in three of his past five 'starts'. He enters with a 2-3 record, 4.69 ERA and 61 strikeouts across 48 innings, while opponents have a .338 on-base percentage. Over his past two outings, he has worked 2 1/3 hitless and scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts, fulfilling the role of opener just how it was written up.
