The Milwaukee Brewers (64-60) start a three-game set against the National League Central-rival St. Louis Cardinals (65-57) Monday at Busch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Eastern.

RHP Zach Davies vs. RHP Dakota Hudson

Davies did not look right over the last month or so. Sure enough, he got placed on the injured list and missed about two weeks. His first start is tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals. He gave up 17 earned runs in his final three starts before the IL stint.

Hudson put it all together in his last start as he dominated Kansas City. In six innings, the righty struck out four batters and gave up only five hits with two walks. It was a welcome departure from the previous three starts where he allowed 10 earned runs in three outings.

  • Milwaukee has gone 6-4 over their last 10 games, while St. Louis has gone 7-3 to climb back into first place in the NL Central.
  • The Cardinals also went 4-6 against the over/under across their last 10 games. The Brewers went 6-4 in favor of the higher number.

  • Hudson has to watch out for Christian Yelich who is 2-for-5 with two home runs against the St. Louis starting pitcher.
  • Davies must be leery of Matt Carpenter, who has 11 hits in 24 at-bats against the Milwaukee right-hander. Carpenter belted three home runs as well.
  • The Cardinals bullpen has been a little shaky of late and nearly blew a three-run lead against the Cincinnati Reds Sunday afternoon before holding on for a 5-4 win.

It's dicey with the Cardinals bullpen of late.
