Minnesota Wild at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and betting tips

The Minnesota Wild (1-4-0) and T oronto Maple Leafs (3-2-1) will face off Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET. Here, we break down the Wild vs. Maple Leafs odds and lines, with NHL betting picks and tips.

Wild at Maple Leafs: Projected starting goalies

Devan Dubnyk vs. Frederik Andersen

Dubnyk is winless through four starts, and the 33-year-old hasn't been sharp. Dubnyk heads into Tuesday's tilt in Toronto having yielded (in order) four, three, four and five goals. While his strength of schedule is tough (foes so far include Nashville, Winnipeg and Pittsburgh), the 6-foot-6 netminder's early-season .862 save percentage is concerning.

Andersen owns a 3.38 GAA and .886 save percentage through five outings. Two starts ago (Oct. 10), the seventh-year pro was riddled for seven goals on 28 shots in a shortened outing against Tampa Bay. Andersen bounced back, stopping 25 of 27 against an overmatched Detroit squad next time out. The 30-year-old has been a consistent sort for the Leafs over the last three years.

  • Toronto has yielded a couple too many high-danger-area goals, and the Maple Leafs head into Tuesday's action ranked 20th in the penalty kill (77.8%).

  • The Minnesota offense has languished with a 7.3 percent shooting percentage through five games. The Wild's Corsi-For mark is 51.4%. Figure better days ahead for the Minnesota offense, which has scored 2.4 GPG (22nd) thus far.
  • Toronto ranks second in the league in scoring chances (32.1 per 60 min.). The Leafs have logged 28 or more shots in all six games. They've registered 34-plus shots four times.
  • The Wild are 1-6 over their last seven games in the back half of back-to-backs … 40-82 in their last 122 games as an underdog of +151 to +200 … 6-22 in their last 28 games as a road underdog of +201 or greater.
  • The Maple Leafs are: 29-14 in their last 43 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game - and 8-2 in their last 10 games as a home favorite of -201 or greater.

Moneyline: A steep price ( Toronto -239) makes the moneyline a play to skip.

Spread: MAPLE LEAFS -1.5 (+110) is worth a look as a play on Andersen continuing a bounce and the Wild on the back half of two straight after a low-scoring win.

Over/under: No lean here but would rather try the UNDER6.5 (-143).
