NHL Futures Bets: Updated 2019-20 NHL Stanley Cup Championship odds
The 2019-20 NHL season is only a few weeks old, so there is plenty of action to play out before the elite teams truly start to separate themselves from the masses. Lets not forget the St. Louis Blues were left for dead in January last season before storming back and eventually winning the Stanley Cup Championship.
Today we look at the latest NHL Stanley Cup Championship odds from the oddsmakers at BetMGM. As was the case earlier this summer, the Tampa Bay Lightning (+750) remain the favorite to go the distance this year, despite them falling on their face during last year's postseason opening round.
The Toronto Maple Leafs (+850), Vegas Golden Knights (+900), Boston Bruins (+950) and Colorado Avalanche (+1200) round out the top five teams. The Blues, the defending Stanley Cup Champions, come in sixth at +1400.

An NHL "futures bet" on the Stanley Cup Champion means you're betting now on which team you think will win the championship next summer. At this time of the year, the odds are on your side for a significant profit play if you choose properly. Keep in mind the later we get into the season, the lower the odds will become for the top teams in the league - leading to a likely lower return on your wager.
A $10 wager on the Lightning to win it all at +750 odds returns a profit of $75 with a Tampa Bay championship.
The longer the odds, the higher the profit with a victory. If the Detroit Red Wings (don't laugh, please) were to go on and win and you had them at today's +10000, a $10 wager would return a profit of $1,000.
