No, sports betting in South Dakota is not legal at this time.
Sports betting in South Dakota
There were several failed attempts to bring sports betting to the ballot in 2019; however, legislators presented SJR501 Feb. 12, 2020, as state-regulated sports betting is again up for debate. The citizens of The Mount Rushmore State will vote on whether or not they want sports betting in November. If the voters pass sports betting by a simple majority, the next step would be rules set by the 2021 state legislature and the governor's office. Based on that timetable, the earliest we would see sports betting would be July 1, 2021, if voters want it.
