After the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 was passed, the Silver State was grandfathered in to prohibit future state expansion of gambling on sports. Nevada was the only state that offered sports betting until 2018 when the Supreme Court ruled PASPA unconstitutional, opening the door for more states to pursue legalization in the future
