UCLA at Oregon: Three things to know

  1. UCLA lost to then-No. 19 Ohio State 77-70 as a 2-point favorite on a neutral floor in Cleveland Saturday. The Bruins led 63-61 with 6:22 to go before Ohio State scored the next 5 points and never relinquished the lead to snap UCLA's 5-game win streak. Bruins junior F Cody Riley scored a game-high 15 points, while sophomore G Johnny Juzang added 13 points in the loss. Sophomore G Jamie Jaquez Jr.'s 13.7 points per game lead four Bruins in double figures.
  2. Oregon enters on a 6-game win streak after dropping its season opener. The Ducks' most recent victory saw senior G Chris Duarte score a game-high 21 points in an 80-41 rout of visiting Portland Saturday. The Ducks defense stood out, holding the Pilots to 21% shooting (12-for-56). Senior F Eugene Omoruyi leads the Ducks with 18.1 PPG. Unfortunately for Oregon, sophomore C N'Faly Dante (8.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG) suffered a season-ending knee injury in the previous game.
  3. Oregon won the only matchup between the two Pac-12 rivals last season. Behind Duarte's game-high 24 points, the Ducks snapped a three-game skid in the series with a 96-75 home victory Jan. 26 - they were 12-point favorites. The game was the difference in Oregon winning the Pac-12 last season at 13-5, one game ahead of UCLA, which was 12-6.

Prediction

Oregon 77, UCLA 70

Money line (ML)

PASS. I'm calling for an Oregon win, but I'll avoid the -175 juice and lay the points below.

Against the spread (ATS)

Back OREGON -3 ( -120). The Ducks have won their last 26 at home, including 4-0 this season and 17-0 last season. They are 158-20 all time at Matthew Knight Arena since it opened in 2011, including 70-16 in Pac-12 play.

ATS records: UCLA 5-2 | Oregon 4-3

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 139.0 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY - 1½ times your usual wager. The Bruins average 77.3 PPG, while the Ducks average 77.4 PPG. The O/U is 5-0 in the last 5 head-to-head meetings. Both teams are 4-3 O/U this season.
