The science of betting Super Bowl propositions has taken on a life of its own for some who otherwise entirely disregard regular-season point spreads and over/under totals.

Those opportunities are especially plentiful this season, with the competition for new customers among online sportsbooks as legal betting quickly expands across states.

Part of their pursuit is to offer as many prop bets as operators can dream up, everything from the time of the national anthem and heads or tails on the coin flip to the statistics of all participants and so much more.

Prop experts advise bettors to “shop, shop, shop” for the best number of the wager they prefer — and with operators offering lucrative payoffs for in-game parlays, the interest in props is expected to reach a fever pitch by Sunday’s 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

What’s needed as the hours creep toward the start of Super Bowl 56 between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium is a guide to navigate the options.

So here you go.

How to win 56 Super Bowl prop bets: A Paste BN Sports+ guide

First, here's a look at the most popular prop bets at Tipico Sportsbook:

1. No touchback on the first kickoff (+120)

Rams kicker Matt Gay hasn’t appeared to be kicking at full strength during the postseason, which is driving this number.

2. Odell Beckham Jr. anytime touchdown scorer (+140)

Beckham’s genuine happiness moving beyond all those losing years with the Giants and Browns is obvious, and his matchup against unpredictable Eli Apple makes this a wise play.

3. Ja’Marr Chase anytime touchdown scorer (+110)

The fabulous rookie is the favorite target of Joe Burrow and a sensational, big-play athlete to boot. Safe choice.

4. Super Bowl record: 76 points scored (Yes: +3000)

The over/under is 48.5, and in the season of the under I can’t foresee this happening given the quality of both defenses.

5. Super Bowl record: Any player with 15+ receptions (Yes: +1500)

Breaking the Super Bowl 51 record of New England’s James White seems daunting given the quality of these defenses, but Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford does obsess over Cooper Kupp, so this could be an entertaining flyer to take.

6. A wide receiver will score the first touchdown (-110)

There’s certainly more talent to reach via the air.

7. Will the Super Bowl end in a “scorigami,” a final score that has never previously been duplicated in the 55 other games (-200):

Let's just say it likely won’t be 43-8, as in Super Bowl 48.

8. Over 5.5 touchdowns scored (-108):

If you’re betting the over, this is a nice complement to back up your wager.

9. Under 1.5 passing touchdowns for Joe Burrow (+135)

He accomplished this in 13 of 20 games this season, including the AFC title game.

10. Tee Higgins over 5.5 receptions (+100)

He’s exceeded five receptions in eight of 20 games, but if Jalen Ramsey shuts down Chase, he becomes option No. 1.

11. Joe Burrow passing yards 277.5

He was sacked nine times by the Titans. Does he dare to drop back frequently enough to compile this number?

12. Matthew Stafford passing yards 283.5

With Kupp and Beckham, the ability to air it out is a constant.

13. Joe Mixon rushing yards 60.5

If the Rams’ pass rush proves overwhelming and the game remains tight, this is sound.

14. Cam Akers rushing yards 64.5

Stafford’s greatest security blanket is Kupp, and Sony Michel might take away too many carries.

15. Cooper Kupp receiving yards 108.5

If the Bengals don’t blanket him after what we’ve seen this postseason, he truly is uncoverable.

RAMS: How Super Cooper Kupp went from overlooked to Super Bowl centerpiece

16. Ja’Marr Chase 80.5 receiving yards

He’ll have Ramsey on him, and he started slowly against the Chiefs.

17. Odell Beckham Jr. 65.5 receiving yards

Ripe for a breakout game on the sport’s biggest stage.

18. Tyler Boyd 40.5 receiving yards

Burrow speaks effusively about Boyd’s route-running, and this number is low.

19. Van Jefferson 32.5 receiving yards

He’s a big-play receiver capable of reaching this total on one pass.

20. Kendall Blanton anytime touchdown scorer (+250)

With Rams tight end Tyler Higbee a dubious play due to a sprained MCL, Blanton is coming off a five-catch, 57-yard game in the NFC Championship.

21. Joe Mixon anytime touchdown scorer (+110)

The three-down back is also a solid choice for the first touchdown.

22. C.J. Uzomah anytime touchdown scorer (+370)

Burrow leans on him in moments of need, nearly 4/1 odds appetizing.

23. Joe Burrow 24.5 pass completions

It comes down to the production of his offensive line. Far better wagers exist.

24. Matthew Stafford 24.5 pass completions

Kupp alone is worth 10, right?

25. Any defensive player to set a Super Bowl record with 5+ sacks (Yes: +5000)

Aaron Donald is on the field, after all.

26. Will Aaron Donald record one sack (Yes: -190)

This seems like a foregone conclusion.

27. Will Von Miller record one sack (Yes: -180)

The former Super Bowl MVP challenges a Bengals line that surrendered 55 sacks.

28. Will Trey Hendrickson record a sack (Yes: -150)

He had 15 this season.

29. Will Jalen Ramsey intercept a pass (No: -800)

A more difficult accomplishment than it seems. He had just four all season.

30. Will Logan Wilson intercept a pass (Yes: +700)

The Bengals linebacker also had four this season.

31. There will be five or more sacks in the game (Yes: -140)

At Caesars, 96% of the tickets on this topic are on “yes.”

32. Total interceptions: 1.5 (Over: -130)

Stafford threw a career-high 17 picks in the regular season.

33. Will a defensive player score a touchdown (Yes: +230)

Take the “no” at -280.

34. Will a defensive player score an offensive touchdown (Yes: 30/1)

The only other player who did it was Mike Vrabel.

35. Joe Burrow 36.5 passing attempts

At Caesars, 78% of the bets are on the under.

'ONE HELLUVA STORY': How Kelly and Matthew Stafford found happiness and a Super Bowl in LA

36. Matthew Stafford 35.5 passing attempts

The over is generating 93% of the dollars at Caesars Sportsbook.

37. Which number will be higher: Points by Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid Saturday or the distance of the first made field goal? (Embiid +5.5: -110)

Hats off to the creativity of the Las Vegas Superbook staff of Jay Korenegay. That doesn’t mean we have any idea how to bet this.

Here are a few more of their specials:

38. Who will have more: Defending NBA MVP Nikola Jokic total points, rebounds and assists Saturday (+16.5) or Odell Beckham receiving yards? (Beckham: -110)

Caution: it’s difficult to pound beers and do this kind of math.

39. Who will have more: Nuggets and Raptors points +67.5 or Matthew Stafford gross passing yards (-110)

You’ll be rooting for overtime in the NBA game.

40. Who will have more: Kyrie Irving points Saturday +12.5 or Tyler Boyd receiving yards

You can join the Nets and lean heavily on Irving with Kevin Durant hurt and James Harden traded.

41. Who will have more: Stephen Curry points Saturday -3.5 or Bengals points

Loving Curry in this spot.

42. Who will have more: Gonzaga men’s basketball tournament wins or Tyler Boyd receptions

If you take the ‘Zags and Boyd grabs seven, rip up the ticket.

43. Who will be shown first during the game: Rams owner Stan Kroenke (5/4), Rams General Manager Les Snead (3/2) or Bengals owner Mike Brown (17/10)

This fun bet comes courtesy of BetOnline.ag, as do the next three:

44. Who will be shown first: Rams offensive coordinator and new Vikings Coach Kevin O’Connell (7/5), Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris (2/1), Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan (3/1 or Bengals defensive coordinator Len Anarumo (3/1)

No bathroom breaks for whoever’s monitoring this one.

45. What will be said first: Detroit Lions or Jared Goff (-110)

However it’s said will be derogatory.

46. Will a player do the “Ickey Shuffle?” (Yes: -140)

This would be beyond awesome.

47. What color liquid will be poured on the winning coach? Orange (2/1), water/clear (3/1), blue (4/1), yellow/green/lime (6/1)

Any color other than the top three is suspect.

48. Who will score the game’s first touchdown: Cooper Kupp (+450), Joe Mixon (+750), Odell Beckham Jr. (+750), Joe Burrow (+3000), Matthew Stafford (+5000)

The favored receiver’s propensity to get open is an obvious draw, but I like taking a shot on Cincinnati’s Tyler Boyd at 10/1.

49. Who will win Super Bowl MVP: Joe Burrow (+210), Cooper Kupp (+600), Joe Mixon (+2500), Aaron Donald (+1600), Von Miller (+5000)

The game’s key battle is obviously whether Cincinnati’s offensive line can protect Burrow from Donald, Miller and Co.

50. Heads or tails on the game-opening coin flip (-110)

A strong 66% of the handle at WynnBet is on tails.

51. Will the opening kickoff be returned for a touchdown? (Yes: +8000)

It’s a long shot, but a popular choice at FanDuel — revealing the eagerness of casuals to bet on anything Super Bowl-related.

52. How many total punts (Over 6.5: -150)

For those betting the under at 48.5, this prop is for you.

53. The Bengals make an episode from “The Simpsons” come to life and win the game 34-31? (Yes: +8000)

This is the most popular exact score that has been bet at FanDuel Sportsbook, causing immense liability for the book should animated comedy become reality.

54. Will Evan McPherson kick more than 1.5 field goals? (Over: -130)

Nicknamed “No-fear-son,” the Bengals rookie has made all 12 of his playoff field goals, eliminating AFC top-seed Tennessee and defending AFC champion Kansas City in consecutive weeks.

55. Will either team score in the final two minutes of the first half? (Yes: -310)

This seems to be automatic (except in the case of the Chiefs in the AFC title game), but interesting that the odds shrink to -165 for a score in the final 3:30 of the game.

56. Will Al Michaels or Cris Collinsworth describe the point spread or total (No: -400)
