The Celtics had a busy offseason after a disappointing exit from the playoffs in Game 7 on their home floor by the Miami Heat. They re-signed G Jaylen Brown to the largest deal in NBA history at the time. They also traded G Marcus Smart, G Malcolm Brogdon, C Robert Williams and F Grant Williams and acquired C Kristaps Porzingis and G Jrue Holiday. So they sacrificed a lot of their depth, but brought in 2 talented players. We'll see how long it'll take for everyone to gel together.

The Knicks added G Donte DiVincenzo to help with their outside shooting and traded away F Obi Toppin. So they are largely return the same group that went 47-35 and pushed the Heat to 6 games in the playoffs. They took 3 of the 4 games last season vs. the Celtics with 2 of them coming in overtime.

The Celtics made a lot of changes, and it's going to take some time for them to get in a rhythm with one another. The Knicks also had their number last season. New York was 23-18 last season, and while the Knicks can be feast or famine, I like the value here.

Take the KNICKS +140 or look to the spread.

Against the spread

The Knicks are 6-4 ATS against Boston over the last 10 meetings. The Celtics were just 26-23-1 ATS on the road last season. I'd rather stick to the ML, but if you're feeling a 3-point Boston win incoming, take the KNICKS +3.5 (-105).

Over/Under

These games did go Over in 3 of 4 matchups last season, but 2 of the games required overtime. I look for a little bit of a sloppy game with Boston undergoing such a facelift on offense. The public has gone hard on the Over early Wednesday, and I look for the books to adjust as the day goes on. So monitor this number closer to tipoff, but I'll take the UNDER 223.5 (-110).
