Orlando Magic at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

The Orlando Magic (2-2) visit the Utah Jazz (2-3) Thursday. Tip-off from Delta Center is set for 9 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Magic vs. Jazz odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Utah won 2-0 last season

Orlando has lost back-to-back games since starting 2-0 on the season. This is the finale of a 4-game road stretch for the Magic, who are 1-2 on the road heading into this matchup. Orlando has yet to find a consistent scoring option as it has had a different leading scorer in each of its 4 games. The Magic have been phenomenal defensively to start the season, only allowing 101.8 opponent points per game but have struggled shooting beyond the arc. The Magic are making only 9.8 three-pointers per game and shooting only 30.7% from that range as a unit.

Utah dropped 133 points on the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday to win the game 133-109, covering as a 2-point favorite. It was a very balanced scoring game for the Jazz as Utah saw 5 players score at least 14 points while also being efficient as a team. The Jazz shot 54% from the field and 51.2% from the 3-point line as a team in the win.

Magic at Jazz picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 117, Magic 100

Moneyline

LEAN UTAH (-110).

Utah is a much better team than its record might suggest, and that is because every team the Jazz have played against is a true contender to win the West, besides the winless Grizzlies. Utah has a better offense than the Magic and has dominated Orlando in the last 10 matchups, being 8-2 in that stretch.

Against the spread

BET UTAH -1.5 (+100).

There is nobody on this Orlando team that should give the Jazz too many problems defensively, but everyone on the Magic not named F Jonathan Isaac will have trouble containing Jazz F Lauri Markkanen. Utah and Orlando both have talented scorers that come off the bench, but with 2nd-year F Paolo Banchero having a rough start to the season, I don't see how the the Magic keep up with Utah's scoring.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 221.5 (-110).

Four of Utah's 5 games this season have hit on the Over, but that is more due to the points the Jazz have allowed than the points the Jazz are scoring themselves. Utah has only scored 120 points twice on the season, in both of its wins, but it has also scored less than 115 points in 1 loss and less than 105 points in the other 2 losses. Also, 3 of Orlando's 4 games this season have hit the Under.
