San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and predictions

The San Antonio Spurs (2-2) and Phoenix Suns (2-2) square off for the 2nd time in 3 days on Thursday with tip from Footprint Center set for 10 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Spurs vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Spurs lead 1-0

San Antonio beat the Suns for the 1st time in their last 10 meetings on Halloween night in thrilling fashion. SF Keldon Johnson stripped SF Kevin Durant and scored with 1.2 seconds left to give the Spurs their only lead of the game and a 115-114 victory. Johnson led all scorers in the game with 27-points as the Spurs won outright as 7-point road underdogs and the Over (226.) hit.

The loss for Phoenix was it 2nd in their last 3 games. Durant led the Suns with 26 points and chipped in 7 rebounds. SG Eric Gordon went 4 of 9 on 3-pointers to add 20 points.

The Suns are 4-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 meetings with the Spurs.

Spurs at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 116, Spurs 112

Moneyline

AVOID.

The season just started and the Suns are already banged up. They are missing 2 of their stars in Beal and Booker. We will continue to see Kevin Durant carry the load for Phoenix until they return to the lineup. The Spurs are a well-coached scrappy bunch with a young star in Victor Wembanyama, who had 18 points and 8 rebounds Tuesday vs. the Suns.

The Suns bounce back at home on Thursday night. I don't believe they will drop both of these games against San Antonio, but I'm definitely not going to bet them at -300. I'm going to save my money for the spread in this game.

Against the spread

BET SPURS +7.5 (-105).

The Spurs are a team on the rise and the Suns are just piecing it together until their stars return. San Antonio has covered in 2 of their last 3 games. I love them getting the 7.5 points.

I could see Wembanyama topping his total of 18 points in the 1st game against this banged-up Suns team. He needs to protect the ball better though, he had 5 turnovers on Tuesday night.

Over/Under

BET OVER 225.5

The Spurs have gone Over the posted total in 3 of their 4 games this season. While the Suns have been over in their last 2.

San Antonio wants to play at a brisk pace and are averaging the 2nd-most possessions per game while the Suns aren't as fast, but are still top 12. The name of the game is getting as many scoring opportunities as possible.

Both teams average 110.8 points per game thru 4 games this season.
