Brooklyn Nets at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

The Brooklyn Nets (2-2) and Chicago Bulls (2-3) meet Friday in the group play stage of the NBA In-Season Tournament. Tip-off from the United Center is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Nets vs. Bulls odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Chicago won 3-1 last season.

Brooklyn picked up its 2nd straight win with a 109-105 victory over the Miami Heat Wednesday, covering as a 7-point underdog. G Cam Thomas has been on a tear to start the season, averaging 28 points per game (PPG), despite only scoring 13 in the win over Miami. The Nets are averaging 118.8 points per game, but are also allowing 116.3 opponent PPG.

Chicago yet again failed to string together consecutive wins, losing 114-105 to the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday, failing to cover as a 3.5-point underdog. The Bulls have failed to score 105 points in 4 of their 5 games, including all 4 of their losses. F Patrick Williams still has yet to be productive offensively for Chicago, averaging just 4 points per game with 0 points in 2 of the last 3  games.

Nets at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Chicago 109, Brooklyn 107

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Bulls to win here, but I am a little surprised they are such a heavy favorite as these are pretty evenly matched teams. Either way, a -185 favorite is not worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET NETS +4.5 (-110).

I like the Bulls to win here due to some injuries to Brooklyn, but I don't trust Chicago to cover here as the Bulls are a very inconsistent team. I don't trust Chicago's offense to shoot the ball well enough to ever get an insurmountable  lead over the Nets, especially as Brooklyn is a better offensive squad. If Thomas puts up 25 points or more, the Nets could very well win this game.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 220.5 (-110).

Chicago's offense is questionable as it averages only 105.4 points per game while only hitting 9.6 3-pointers per game (30.2%). Brooklyn's offense is much better, but it will miss the shooting of Johnson. The Under is the safer bet as I don't expect Thomas to continue his hot streak, making a consistent offensive option a rarity for Brooklyn.
