Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

The Memphis Grizzlies (0-5) go up against the Portland Trail Blazers (2-3) on the first day of the NBA In-Season Tournament on Friday at Moda Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Grizzlies vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Portland won 2 of 3 last season

The Grizzlies were blown out 133-109 by the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, failing to cover as 2-point road underdogs while the Over of 225.5 easily cleared. Memphis is still seeking its 1st win as the absence of G Ja Morant looms large.

The Trail Blazers covered as 3.5-point underdogs on the road and the under of 216.5 connected in their 110-101 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. After losing 3 straight games to begin the season, Portland is currently on a 2-game winning streak.

Grizzlies at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 109, Trail Blazers 104

Moneyline

Even though they have yet to secure a win this season, I'll back the GRIZZLIES (-145) on the road on Friday. The Trail Blazers will be without 2 starting guards as I would only bet on the Grizzlies' moneyline at -150 odds or better.

Against the spread

GRIZZLIES -3.5 (-110) is how I'd wager on the spread with Memphis desperately needing to get in the win column. Outside of Sharpe, F Jerami Grant, and C Deandre Ayton, the Trail Blazers lack scoring on their roster.

Over/Under

With both teams dealing with a variety of injuries, I'll take UNDER 220.5 (-110) in Friday's contest. Both of these teams are a combined 4-6 to the Over this season.

Also, both teams are in the bottom 5 in true-shooting percentage early in the season. The experiment of having F Jaren Jackson Jr. replace Adams at center has failed thus far, but the Grizzlies have a handful of formidable defenders in their rotation that can slow down a shorthanded Trail Blazers squad.
