Army vs. Air Force odds, picks and predictions

The Army Black Knights (2-6) and Air Force Falcons (8-0) meet Saturday at Empower Field at Mile High. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Army vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Black Knights need to win out to become bowl eligible. It's not going well, as Army has lost 5 in a row, including a pair of shutout losses against Troy and at LSU in the month of October. Army suffered a 21-14 setback against UMass last time out as a 10-point favorite, too.

The Falcons can lock up the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy with a win after having posted a 17-6 win at Navy on Oct. 21. Air Force has won all 8 games to date, and the Falcons are 5-1 against the spread (ATS), too, in the past 6 outings.

Army has struggled offensively, totaling just 324.5 yards per game on offense, and it has managed just 20.1 PPG. Defensively, the Black Knights have struggled by allowing 182.9 yards per game, with 25.5 PPG allowed.

Air Force ranks 1st in the nation with a ridiculous 300.4 yards per game on the ground, piling up 33.6 PPG to check in 30th overall. The defense has been fierce, too, allowing just 237.9 total yards, 172.1 passing yards, 65.8 rushing yards and 13.4 points scored per game.

Army vs. Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 35, Army 6

Moneyline

Air Force (-1100) will cost you 11 times your potential return, and that's quite expensive, even against a team it should beat rather handily.

Still, this is also a rivalry game, and Army (+700) will bring its best to the Mile High City.

PASS.

Against the spread

AIR FORCE -17.5 (-110) is worth playing lightly. Army +17.5 (-110) just doesn't have the horses to compete with the Falcons, and the rushing attempts just keep coming.

The Black Knights have been awful against the rush, allowing 182.9 yards per game, which is 118th in the country, according to Covers.com. That's not a good recipe for success for Army.

Over/Under

OVER 32.5 (-110) is a slam-dunk play. Yes, Air Force has a tremendous defense, but the Falcons are unstoppable on the ground, especially for a Black Knights rushing defense which has been trampled by everybody this season.

Army knows it is coming, but it still won't be able to stop the waves of attack from QB Zac Larrier, FB Emmanuel Michel and RB John Lee Eldridge III, among others.
