Phoenix Suns at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions
The Phoenix Suns (2-4) and Detroit Pistons (2-4) meet Sunday at Little Caesars Arena. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Suns vs. Pistons odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.
Season series: First meeting; Phoenix won both games last season
The Suns failed to cover the spread as 6.5-point underdogs in a 112-100 loss Saturday at the Philadelphia 76ers as the Under (220.5) hit. Phoenix lost its 3rd straight game, but was without G Bradley Beal (back) and G Devin Booker (ankle).
The Pistons failed to cover as 4.5-point underdogs in a 125-116 loss at the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday as the Over (215.5) cashed. G Cade Cunningham had 22 points and 11 assists as Detroit lost its 3rd straight.
These teams each covered once in 2 meetings last season, and the Under went 2-0.

Suns at Pistons picks and predictions
Prediction
Suns 110, Pistons 107
Moneyline
It's unlikely that the Suns (-225) will lose their 4th straight game — especially when 3 of those losses would be to the San Antonio Spurs and Pistons. However, there is too much injury uncertainty with this team for me to recommend betting this number.
PASS. Bet the spread and/or the total instead.
Against the spread
Betting either side almost feels like an overreaction. If you bet the Pistons, you're potentially overreacting to the Suns' 3-game skid. If you bet the Suns, you're laying 5.5 points on the road against a Pistons team that should've won its last home game vs. the Portland Trail Blazers (93.7% win probability in 3rd quarter).
I would suggest holding off until reports come out about Booker's status for Sunday. If Booker is announced in, I would take the inflated Detroit spread after the market overreacts to the news. If Booker sits, I would PASS.
Over/Under
After the Suns allowed a total of 247 points in 2 games vs. the Spurs, they bounced back defensively and gave up just 112 to the 76ers. Phoenix may be trying to slow games down now after failing to keep up with the young Spurs. The shorthanded Suns do not have a deep bench, and their best chance at winning may be to control the pace and have F Kevin Durant excel in a half-court offense.
BET UNDER 222.5 (-110).
