2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship prop bet picks and PGA Tour predictions

After a stop in Mexico at Tiger Woods' El Cardonal at Diamante, the PGA Tour is now in Bermuda for the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Port Royal Golf Club is hosting this event for the 5th time in Southampton, Bermuda. The 1st round begins on Thursday.

Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Adam Scott is the headliner in this week's field, coming in as the favorite to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. He ranks 57th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and is +1600 to win this week. Akshay Bhatia and Brendon Todd are also teeing it up and have the 2nd-best odds at +1800.

Port Royal Golf Club is a very short course, spanning only 6,828 yards as a par 71. There is some elevation change throughout, which can make some holes play longer, but it's certainly not a long track that favors big hitters. The wind is what protects this venue from players going exceptionally low, but players still usually post some of the lowest scores of any tournament; the 72-hole record is 260 strokes, set by Todd in 2019.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Top-5 picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access Paste BN Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 7:22 p.m. ET.

Ben Griffin (+400)

Griffin nearly won here last year but he fell apart on the back nine on Sunday, falling to 3rd place and finishing 2 shots back of Seamus Power. It was still a top-5 finish for him and there's no reason to believe he can't follow it up with another this week. He came in 23rd last week in Mexico, too.

Brendon Todd (+350)

Todd is one of the shorter hitters on tour, which makes him a good fit for one of the shortest courses. He won this tournament in 2019 and just finished 6th in his only other fall start this season, the Fortinet Championship.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Top-10 picks

Thomas Detry (+170)

Detry finished 2nd here and 22nd the year prior, his only 2 starts in Bermuda. His odds for a top 10 are pretty short, but he's worth betting and it's a good time for him to get back on track after back-to-back finishes outside the top 35.

Martin Laird (+600)

Laird is another shorter hitter off the tee, but he's very accurate (26th in driving accuracy). This will be his 1st time playing the Butterfield, but he's coming off a T-31 at the World Wide Technology Championship.

Alex Smalley (+200)

Smalley is inching closer to a top-10 at this event, finishing 12th in 2021 and then 11th last year. Last month, he came in 16th at the Sanderson Farms Championship before tying for 61st at the Shriners Children's Open a week later.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Top-20 picks

Brian Gay (+500)

Gay has never finished worse than 12th in this event and he's won it once (11th, 12th, 1st and 3rd). He's only made 2 cuts this season, but it seems no matter how he's playing coming into the Bermuda Championship, he steps up and plays well here. Ride this trend and bet him to finish in the top 20 again at +500.

Kramer Hickok (+300)

Hickok plays this event every year and though he missed the cut last year, he came in 30th, 8th and 15th the 3 years prior. He's also coming off a T-15 at the World Wide Technology Championship last week so he has some momentum entering this start.

Other T20 contender: Peter Malnati (+333)

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Matchups

Suggested play is golfer in bold.

Alex Smalley (-120) vs. Lucas Herbert (-105)

Herbert has won here before, but Smalley has finished 11th and 12th in 2 starts at Port Royal.

Ben Griffin (-110) vs. Lucas Glover (-110)

Griffin has only missed 1 cut in his last 5 starts and finished 3rd here last year, while Glover came in 63rd.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – Top Continental European

Thomas Detry (+188)

Detry has played well here in each of the last 2 years, coming in 22nd and 2nd. Alex Noren, who has the 2nd-best odds in this category at +225, hasn't played here since 2019 when he finished 15th.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship – First-round leader

Ben Griffin (+3500)

Griffin ranks 40th on tour in 1st-round scoring and fired rounds of 65 and 64 on Thursday and Friday last year.
