Who to take in Week 10 in your NFL survivor pool

Last week's top option for NFL survivor pools was the Atlanta Falcons, playing at home against the Minnesota Vikings. With Vikings rookie QB Jaren Hall making his 1st NFL start, it looked like a great selection. Nobody expected QB Joshua Dobbs to be summoned in the 1st quarter when Hall exited with a concussion. And nobody expected Dobbs, in just his 5th day with the organization, to throw for 2 TDs and run for another, leading the Vikings to a 31-28 comeback win.

While most survivor pool rules only a allow a team to be selected once during the season, picking mid-level teams like the Falcons makes sense when the matchup is right. It appeared the right time to roll the dice on Atlanta. Unfortunately, Minnesota had other ideas.

In our No. 2 option section, the New Orleans Saints got it done, winning 24-17 at home, against the Chicago Bears and undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent in his 3rd-career start.

While we've lost our No. 1 option twice, we would be eliminated from most pools. But we're still here to help -- and maybe, your pool allows up to 3 losses.

The chalk: Buffalo Bills

Who they play: Home vs. Denver Broncos – Monday, 8:15 p.m. (ABC/ESPN)

In the final game of Week 10, the Bills (5-4) host the Denver Broncos (3-5) in a Monday Night Football battle at Highmark Stadium. The Bills are also looking to bounce back after a 24-18 setback on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.

We haven't used the Bills as the top option, but it's high time against the Broncos. Playing Buffalo takes a little bit of a leap of faith. The Bills are 4-0 at home. Three of their 4 losses came on the road, and the other setback was overseas in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

At home, Buffalo has topped the Las Vegas Raiders, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2 of those 4 victories, including the signature win over the Fins, the Bills won by a comfortable 28 points.

I expect the Bills, particularly the offense, to roll up some big numbers. QB Josh Allen is one of the top signal callers in the NFL, and he'll face a Broncos pass defense allowing 251.8 yards per game -- which ranks 26th in the league.

On a weekend when some of the top NFL teams are off on a bye, the Bills are a great pick here. In front of a raucous Western New York crowd, BUFFALO is my FAVORITE SURVIVOR PLAY of Week 10.

No. 2 option: Dallas Cowboys

Who they play: Home vs. New York Giants – 4:25 p.m. (FOX)

The Cowboys (5-3) destroyed the New York Giants (2-7) back in Week 1 at MetLife Stadium in the rain. On Sunday Night Football, in what was supposed to be a marquee matchup between NFC East rivals and playoff teams from last season, Dallas won 40-0.

And that was with QB Daniel Jones starting for the G-Men. He returned last week after missing 3 games with a neck injury, but suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 2nd quarter. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor did a decent job in Jones' place for a couple of weeks, but he is now also on the shelf with a rib injury. As such, rookie QB Tommy Devito is the tertiary option, and he will make his 1st NFL start in Jerry World. It's not going to be pretty.

The Cowboys are the largest favorite of the season at -16.5 points. LB Micah Parsons and the Dallas defense has to be licking their collective chops getting ready to tee off on Devito.

We are going to see a season sweep for the Cowboys, and it wouldn't be shocking to see another shutout, too.
