The Golden Eagles were led by G Kam Jones, who scored 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He averaged 15.3 points per game last season and is poised for a bigger role this year. Marquette finished last season 29-7 and 6th in the final AP Poll.
Rider beat Immaculata 113-67 in its 1st game of the season. Six players scored in double figures with 6-foot-7 F Mervin James scoring 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Rider finished 16-14 last year after a 14-19 finish in 2021-22 season. Under the leadership of coach Kevin Baggett, the Broncs will look to continue to move forward.

Last season, it beat teams like Long Island University by 37, Central Michigan by 24 and Georgia Tech by 24, among other blowout wins. It should be able to start asserting its dominance, especially with the return of its leading scorer, Jones.
Rider, which plays in the MAAC, was dominated against Rutgers on the road 76-46 last season. It also lost to Providence 66-65 on the road. Neither of those teams were at the level of Marquette.
